So….I’ll try to sum up what’s happening here. In 2008, I designed and modeled a robot girl for a college assignment. I posted them on DeviantArt as I always do, and since then I’ve gotten quite a few people asking if they can model it as well. I always tell them sure, as long as I’m credited with the design. I failed to put my name/info on the image though, so it has been spread around the internet and some people have modeled it without my permission (just for the record you don’t have to sign something for it to be protected by copyright). They usually find out who made it later and gladly credit me. So I don’t mind!

Until someone tries to sell it.

Fast forward from 2008 to now. I find out that someone has been selling a model of my design on Turbosquid since March of this year, and it has made thousands of dollars in profit. I’m naturally very upset about this, so I report the infringement to Turbosquid. At first they seemed fairly courteous, but then I wake up today and find them basically asking me to let him keep selling the model as long as he credits me. Are you kidding? After making thousands of dollars? Note that Turbosquid takes a 60% commission of profits by default, so they likely made even more money than the seller did from my design.

They tried to appeal to pity by talking about how hard he worked on creating the model from my design. HI! I DID THAT TOO!

I just can’t believe Turbosquid is taking the side of the infringer and trying to ignore the fact that they both made thousands of dollars off my IP without my permission. The minimum amount of money made is $2,481.00. I base that on how many reviews the model had, which you can only do if you buy it. However, this doesn’t include any purchases made that weren’t given reviews.

I think it goes without saying that the profits belong to me. It is not right for a guy in another country to steal my design and make thousands from it while I struggle to make ends meet. I have never made a penny off of that character design. To think that Turbosquid considers it fair for me to make nothing off my design while they made thousands is just unbelievable.

PLEASE reblog this. I am an amateur artist. I am not famous. I spent $130,000 to go to art college and haven’t found a full-time job since. My only job is the freelance I do from home. I am not Disney. I can’t afford to have my designs stolen for profit. I am hopeful that with enough exposure of this, Turbosquid will suddenly find the ethics they dropped on the floor somewhere. If this can happen to me, it can happen to you.

Usually I try not to get up on my soap box, but this is actually kind of a big issue.

I’ll summarize:

• White tigers are not their own species. They are Bengal or Amur tigers with a genetic mutation that turns their pelt white. Breeders will try to tell you they are trying to conserve the ‘rare species’ of white tiger as a way to justify what they are doing because most people don’t know it’s a lie.

• The white gene causes some pretty bad health issues which is why we don’t see white tigers naturally. They usually die off.

• Being cross-eyed is one health defect that ALL white tigers have (even if they don’t look it) because the gene that carries white coloration also carries the cross-eyed trait. Club feet, cleft palates, spinal deformities and defective organs are also complications that arise from the white gene.

• Because it is so rare to find this type of mutation, severe inbreeding has taken place to produce more animals with the white color. This also causes some severe medical defects as well as early deaths, still births

So maybe you’re wondering why we do see them in zoos? The answer isn’t very surprising: Money. People continue to breed white tigers because they know that’s what people want to see. This is a huge, HUGE issue, and here’s why:

• Only 1 in 4 tiger cubs from a white tiger bred to an orange tiger carrying the white gene are born white. Keep in mind, this is not normal breeding, this is excessive in-breeding.
• Of those 25% born white, only 80% survive due to the medical defects of having the white gene.
• Of those that DO survive and are white, most have immune deficiency, scoliosis of the spine, cleft palates, mental impairments, and of course, the terribly crossed eyes. Due to these defects, very few are actually able to be put on display.

Now, how many cubs do you think have to suffer and die due to either their orange coloring (the 3 out of 4) or the medical issues just so breeders can achieve the very small percentage of individuals they can use?

The answer is: A lot.

This kind of breeding is not okay and any reputable zoo will not participate in it. Luckily, the AZA (American Zoological Association) formally banned the breeding of white tigers in 2011.

There is a tiger named Kenny who is one of the most severe examples of this kind of breeding. Here are some pictures of him:

He has down-syndrome as well as several other medical problems that make him completely dependent on the people who take care of him.

Kenny continues to be kept alive so that people can really see what is happening to white tigers when people breed for the white gene. Here’s something to think about: If this is what one of the surviving white tigers has had to suffer through, think of what all the others must be like who don’t make it to adult hood.

If you don’t remember Sophie M Herold, she is a German girl, who is extremely homophobic and transphobic. She has found out LGBTQ persons names, addresses, personal info etc. And set up her own database.

Her intentions with this are harmful.

She is sending out this information, your information, your best friends information, someone you love and care about. She’s sending it to hate groups, malicious people, people with bad intentions.

And if you think I’m blowing this out of proportion, people have been kicked out of homes, disowned by families and even MURDERED. Yes, murdered. Innocent people who have done nothing but love.

She has had numerous blogs and each have been removed. Tumblr staff are aware of her, and as far as I’m aware she currently doesn’t have a blog, but this does not mean she isn’t still on peoples tumblrs, asking via anon where you live, what your name is.

An email I received today. She’s sending out information of same sex couples with children so the children can be kidnapped. She entitled it “Time to strike back”. If that doesn’t suggest harmful intentions I don’t know what does.

Please be extremely careful what you post on tumblr, on twitter, facebook, anywhere. Do NOT give out your full name or your address, or even the town in which you live. Look out for one another, and don’t answer any suspicious anons. Especially if they use your name in quotation marks.

Sophie M Herold is still out there, she always will be, so please spead this message and warn people. She’s attacking in silence. We don’t need more people dying because of her actions.

PLEASE TAKE YOUR TIME TO READ THIS

So I went to a Homestuck meetup in the area. I was cosplaying as Four Cords Nepeta while my Boyfriend was cosplaying as his own version of Human Equius. There were really good cosplays there. My boyfriend and I kept to ourselves since we really didn’t know anyone that was there other than a John who I’ve seen once or twice before at other meetups. For the first couple hours everything went good.

Until about 1 or 2ish. A fully painted Karkat and Sollux and a Roxy (There cosplays were not really the best and horns looked really bad. and was painted with what looked like really dark grey acrylic paint and the roxy was really nice looking she just didn’t have a wig) Walked up. We haven’t seen them before. They weren’t random people because they knew the quirks of the characters very well. The Karkat and Sollux were also both guys. My boyfriend didn’t feel to comfortable with them around me. So we tried to keep to ourselves. But it  wasn’t long before the Roxy went back to her car coming back with a bottle of Faygo. It was already opened and some was gone, like they were drinking some on the way.

It wasn’t Faygo. The drink contained Flunitrazepam. A hypnotic drug used for date rape . Nobody knew this at first. The Roxy, Karkat, and Sollux left after the bottle was open saying they had a birthday to get to or something. I did end up drinking the “Faygo” buy my boyfriend didn’t because he cant drink carbonized drinks. I ended up passing out awaking in the hospital next to the other Homestucks that were drugged as well. (14/16)

The Roxy Karkat and Sollux were never caught.

I don’t think i’m ever cosplaying Nepeta ever again. My boyfriend is worried sick and now brings our own drinks to every meetup. I’m so lucky my Boyfriend Can’t drink it. 

Some people are really stupid.
